Volunteer Field Assistant workshare 2017(4 placements available)
A Field Assistant workshare is someone who works with us from 8am to 4pm on a Tuesday from April until the end of December in exchange for a share of the farm’s produce. Workshares differ from one-time volunteers in that they develop some skill and speed over the course of a season, and they commit to coming regularly each week.
Harvest days are our days to shine, where we work swiftly and efficiently and gather in the best of our veg for our members. By trading your time and effort for a box of veg, you help us keep things running smoothly on these busy harvest days. The work share program is an excellent opportunity to save some money on food, and a chance to be a part of the team that connects our farm to the community. See what goes on behind the scenes, have time to ask more in depth questions, and learn more about local agriculture. You’ll be working with our 3 skilled co-director so you’ll be trained as you go. You’ll get to know more of our community, and have fun doing it.
If you’re interested then we’ll say this: workshares aren’t for everyone, make sure you’re up to the task! Please remember, this is a WORK Share, and at times it will be hard work. You’ll be lifting heavy crates, racing around, picking and packing produce for your fellow CSA members in all manner of hot, cold, wet, and dry weather. It is alot of fun, although sometimes hot and sweaty work. Experience isn’t always necessary but a good attitude, dependability and willingness to learn are everything!
If you’re interested please email email@example.com and answer these three questions:
- Why would you like to volunteer for School Farm CSA?
- What do you hope to gain from this experience?
- What skills would you bring to the farm?
