Community Events
Growing food, connection, and celebration together.
School Farm CSA isn’t just a place where we grow food great Organic veg, it’s a place where we grow community, too! Throughout the year we run a range of events that bring people together to connect with the land, learn new skills, meet neighbours, and celebrate the seasons.
Our community events are open to everyone, and each one forms a part of the social fabric of the farm. Whether you come to lend a hand, share a meal, dance at the harvest party, or browse for plants, you’re part of what makes School Farm thrive.
Community Volunteer Days
Every Thursday the farm comes alive with volunteers of all ages and experience levels working alongside our growers, for our weekly volunteer day. We sow, plant, weed, harvest, and share a home-cooked lunch together. Our Thursday Volunteer Day is the heart of our community — a space to feel connected, grounded, and welcomed onto our land.
If Thursdays don’t suit you, we also host seasonal Saturday Community Volunteer Days throughout the year. These days usually centre on a task of the season — tending strawberries, plaiting garlic, harvesting squash, or whatever the land is asking for at that moment. They’re a lovely way to join in if you can’t make weekdays, and they always carry a bit of seasonal magic.
Spring Open Day
Each spring we throw open the gates for a relaxed, family-friendly day on the farm. Expect farm tours, children’s activities, tea, coffee, and cake, and a chance to see the first green shoots of the season. It’s a gentle celebration of new beginnings and the growing year ahead.
Harvest Party
Our biggest event of the year. Each autumn we celebrate the end of the growing season with an day of feasting, music, dancing, and craft.
The Harvest Party is a joyful expression of what we believe in: people coming together, sharing food, and celebrating the land that sustains us. We’ll host farm tours, and we invite local crafts people together for a day of activities and fun.
Plant Sales
We run plant sales at the farm throughout the year to share the abundance from our propagation house. From us, you’ll find robust Organic veg plants grown by our team: expect tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuces, kales, and more! At these events we also pair up with other local plant nurseries that cover the types of plants that we don’t grow here at School Farm, things like culinary and medicinal herbs, flowers, perennial plants and vegetables, as well as fruit and nut trees, too.
Buying plants from us helps supports the farm and to spread a little more biodiversity into the gardens of our community.
